TV Heros [SPECIAL EDITION]
Review
Best Kid Album So Far (5 Stars) It is nice to find a well done album with great versions that the entire Family can enjoy. This album really brought back memories for me, and my kids enjoyed all of the songs. Thank you TV Mania Orchestra. The right choice of songs, the right arrangeents, and some great vocals. The fact that they were able to extend these versions made them more enjoyable. A definite 5 stars in my book. First time I have seen a cover of the Disney TV show Dinosaurs, and the 30 second sample of the Simpsons does not do this version justice. Power Rangers, Saved By The Bell, and Roundhouse were great. Also enjoyed the guitar solo's on Ren & Stiimpy, Inspector Gadget was well done, a was X-Men, and Sonic The Hedgehog. My 5 year old really liked the Cucu Bam Bam song. --iTunes

Inspector Gadget - The Gadget Files
Inspector Gadget was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, and when I discovered episodes coming out on DVD, I had to pick it up. Before putting the DVD into the player, I reminded myself that some shows watched as a kid lose their fun twenty years later. I went in with this reservation, and watched it drop as I remembered all the fond memories of Penny, Brain, and of course Inspector Gadget.

Inspector Gadget's Biggest Caper Ever (2005)
Wowsers, Inspector Gadget is back for an hour of animated fun, based on the original cartoon series (1983-1986) about a bumbling bionic police investigator who saves the day against the wily ne’er do well, Dr. Claw. Since the show’s cancellation, a number of spinoffs, sequels, and feature films have tried (with varying success) to capture the essence of the original tale with its distinct characters. Kudos to this rendition for staying true to the series’ vintage style, aided by the veteran voice-over of Maurice LaMarche (Animaniacs) as Gadget. The story opens in Metro City where tourism is plummeting as Dr. Claw makes known his plans for world domination. Inspector Gadget takes the case, yet is quickly distracted by the discovery of a giant egg which hatches a prehistoric flying lizard. The scaly reptile becomes the story’s requisite supervillain, which Claw quickly employs for his own gain. The inspector’s gadgetry is as impressive as ever, while the banter with his trusty gadgetmobile (voiced by Bernie Mac) offers plenty of laughs. Meanwhile, Gadget’s niece, Penny, supplies the investigative smarts along with science whiz and best pal Loony Purkle. Since Gadget blends the best of Jacques Clouseau and Maxwell Smart, fans might miss the voice of Don Adams, though LaMarche is no stranger to the show and likely will continue as Gadget, especially since the ending leaves plenty of room for a sequel. A live-action Inspector Gadget is back, this time with higher tech gadgets and more special effects. French Stewart (TV's Third Rock from the Sun) replaces Matthew Broderick as the bumbling detective in a plot that revolves around the glitch-ridden Gadget's replacement by a completely robotized female. Parent Trap's Elaine Hendrix does what little she can with the one-dimensional role of "G2." Still, Gadget falls for his rival and the pair team up with his smart-as-a-whip niece Penny and her brainy beagle for a showdown with Claw. Where Broderick struggled to humanize the caricature of an inept detective in the 1999 original, Stewart doesn't even try. Instead he plays Gadget as a cartoon, with endless mugging and over-the-top theatrics. The enhanced special effects may placate young viewers, but without the comedy of the original, that's small comfort. The best thing about this movie? It's rated G and, thus, harmless. Universal Bullshit Detector Watch by Joey Skaggs
Product Description
Designed and manufactured by artist and satirist Joey Skaggs, this stealth new technological wonder gives all appearances of being a handsome quartz watch (which it is). It is also the perfect antidote to blow-hard, blustering, fatuous, people who are full of bull. Now you can comment with humor anywhere, any time. Just push the button and let the Universal Bullshit Detector Watch speak your mind. It flashes, moos & poops. (It also tells time.) When asked, "What's that sound?" Just say "Oh, Sorry! That's my bullshit detector." This product is non-partisan and non-sectarian, and in any language it sounds the same. The Universal Bullshit Detector Watch has a sound and light effect that lasts approximately eight seconds each time the upper button is pushed. The watch face is red with an illustration of a bull from behind. The face cover is glass. The strap, which will fit anyone from a child to a large adult is black plastic. The watch uses two replaceable batteries, one for the quartz works and one for the sound and light effect, that are readily available and can be changed at any watch repair store. This product is sturdy and long lasting. It is endlessly useful. And, it is great fun for anyone with an open mind and a profound sense of humor. The Universal Bullshit Detector Watch is not waterproof. So please don't get thrown overboard while wearing it.

Items like these "spy vision" goggles are immensely popular, in part because kids expect the same results they see on the big screen or cartoons. The goggles look cool enough (which may be all that matters anyway) but don't expect much. The adjustable head strap is fashionably padded, with a techno-looking pack in the rear. The pack actually just holds batteries. The key feature, however, is the eye-catching, acid-green lens. They are useless for deflecting UV rays, exploring underwater, or--not so surprising--penetrating darkness. What penetrates the darkness are two small, small light bulbs, dressed up in nifty pop-out compartments on each side. The goggles, though, to their credit, make everything appear cool and eerie--including the wearer. That's fun even without real spy vision. Required: 4 "AAA" batteries. --Diane Beall
